The Sabetha basketball teams swept Perry-Lecompton on Tuesday night at home in Big 7 League play with the girls score 39-32, and the boys final 51-31.

Girls: Kaws 32, Bluejays 39

It was Perry-Lecompton that jumped out to an early lead as they led Sabetha 15-10 after the first quarter.

The Bluejays would put together and quality second quarter on both ends of the floor and would outscore the Kaws 14-3 in that frame to lead the game 24-18 at halftime.

The points were hard to come by in the second half but Sabetha would make just enough plays on offense and enough stops on defense to hold on for the win and snap a six-game losing streak.

The Bluejays (4-14, 3-9 Big 7) were led by Alexia Hayden as she finished with game with 16 points and nine rebounds while Camryn Duryea added 10 points. Sabetha outrebounded the Kaws 29-17 and they hit eight three-pointers.

Perry-Lecompton (6-11, 3-8 Big 7) were led by Taylor Damme with 11 points while Macie Corcoran added 10 points and four rebounds.

Boys: Kaws 31, Bluejays 51

Just like the first meeting, this game was a tale of two halves as the Bluejays were able to put together a dominant second half to get the win.

The win for Sabetha secures their 27th straight Big 7 League win, the top-seed in the Royal Valley Sub-State, and at least a share of the Big 7 League Title for this season.

The Bluejays jumped out to an early 9-2 lead but the Kaws would battle back and only trail by three at halftime.

The second half was a much different story as the Kaws couldn't find the offense as they were held scoreless until the middle of the fourth quarter. The Bluejays outscored the Kaws 15-0 in the third quarter and 25-8 in the second half.

Balanced scoring for the Bluejays (16-2, 12-0) led by Marcus Bauman with 14 points and nine rebounds, Christian McAfee added 12 points, and Will Ulrich finished with 10 points. Sabetha also had a plus-12 advantage in the rebounding numbers.

Perry-Lecompton (13-5, 10-2) was led in scoring by Tyler Reed with eight points while Ronnie Baker finished with six points.
