Intro

Jackson Heights enters the night on both boy and girl’s side trying to move their way up to the top four of league play. McLouth on the other hand on their boys and girls side are just trying to stay away from the bottom of the barrel. In these varsity matchups tonight the Cobras were able to dominate in all four quarters of both varsity games, ending the week with a varsity sweep against the Bulldogs.

Girls - Jackson Heights Vs Mclouth (41-8)

Coming into the game, McLouth only has five total players on the roster available to play, and they were worn out quick. Coach Macy had a game plan of a man-to-man defense complimented with the dominate full court press. The Bulldogs only successfully put up eight points through four quarters due to this impressive defensive performance. The dogs leading scorer of the night was Lillian Mahon with five points, all five points from the free-throw line. However, the player of the game went to Jackson Heights senior Dawson Cochren who had twenty points placed on the game. After the first quarter ending 15-0 in favor of the snakes, it was all over for the Bulldogs.

Boys - Jackson Heights Vs McLouth (54-39)

The Cobra boys entering their third final game of the season come in at 8-5 in league play looking to continue competing to finish in the top four of NEKL competition. The snakes were also looking to snap a three game losing streak, extended from their 46-30 loss to JCN Thursday night. Jackson Heights struck early, going up 21-6. The first half was mostly dominated by Brayden McQueen from the Cobras with his four threes, finishing the half and game with fourteen total points. The half ended 33-15 with a Cobra lead over McLouth as the Bulldogs were slowly coming back into the game. The comeback hopes were all shut down however from the young sophomore, Drake Mellies, who had twenty-two points and three threes on the game. Unfortunately, Junior Jerrick Chenhall played his heart out for the dogs, putting up twenty-three total points, but his team still end up coming short 54-39.

Summary

The Cobras will finish league play with Oskaloosa on Tuesday and a home finisher on Friday versus Valley Falls. The Bulldogs will have their last game against Maur Hill on Tuesday next week. Both teams will be nervous, but excited, for their final week of regular season play before Sub-state begins!
