The 2024 State Wrestling Tournaments concluded on Saturday in Salina with two area wrestlers claiming State Championships.

Oskaloosa's Holly Thacher at 115 for 4-1A girls and Sabetha's Colin Menold at 150 for 3-2-1A boys. Thacher claimed her third straight State Title and won the 115 pound weight class this season after winning the title at 105 last season. Menold completed an incredible season finishing undefeated at 43-0 and knocking off the number one ranked wrestler in his weight class and defending State Champion in the finals.

Out of the 60 total area wrestlers who were competing across three tournaments, we had 25 total placers including Thacher and Menold as State Champions.

We also landed three runner-up finishes with ACCHS's Easton Schletzbaum at 157 and Nemaha Central's Keaton Rottinghaus at 113 for 3-2-1A boys while Holton's Dalton Roush finished runner-up at 215 in Class 4A.

Lucas Batz of Holton finished in third place at 120 in Class 4A while we had a handful of fourth, fifth, and sixth place finishes.

Sabetha would finish in third place in the team standings behind only Norton and Hoxie who won the team title. ACCHS finished in fifth place with Nemaha Central finishing in seventh place.
