The Jefferson County North baseball team kept their season alive on Wednesday night with an 8-1 win over Pleasant Ridge in the first round of the Valley Falls regional.
The two teams played their regular season doubleheader less than two weeks ago and the Rams won both games 10-6 and 14-3.
The Chargers (6-19) were led by sophomore Colby Olberding. Olberding started the game with a three-run home run in the first inning and then on the mound he posted a quality start.
Olberding pitched into the sixth inning allowing just one run on two hits with 11 strikeouts.
JCN led 4-1 going into the seventh inning and they were able to add four runs to help put the game away.
The Rams (13-9) got their lone run in the first inning on a solo home run off the bat of Austin Green.
Pleasant Ridge finished the game with just four hits, four errors, and they left nine on base.
JCN will face top seed Valley Falls in the semifinal on Monday afternoon in Valley Falls with the winner advancing to the regional championship game later that day.
