40th Annual Girls NEK All-Star Game: Gold Pushes Past Navy Behind All-State Guard Duo

40th Annual Girls Northeast Kansas All-Star Basketball Game at Highland CC. 

Gold - 66
Navy - 46

Team gold was paced by Big East All-State guards Rylee Dick of Rossville and Kailyn Hanni of Silver Lake. 

Dick is Rossville's all-time leader in threes and committed to Rockhurst to continue her basketball career. She finished with a game-high 21 points. 

Hanni, recently announced the Sports in Kansas 3A Player of the Year, flashed on both ends of the floor and finished the game with 15 points. 

Gold led 17-12 after the first quarter and 27-15 at halftime. Navy was able to pick it up on the offensive end, but Gold was still able to outscore Navy 39-31 in the second half. 

Navy was led by Chesnea Cochren of Jackson Heights who finished with 15 points. Chesnea was first team all-league in the NEKL this season along with a honorable mention all-state honor. 

Navy also got contributions from Troy's all-time leader in points, assists, and steals, and Northern Iowa commit Harper Whetstine who finished with seven points. Emmy Jo Whetstine of Doniphan West added six points while Niahla Duncan of Riverside pitched in with four points. 

Other scorers for Gold included Brynlyn Brockman of Blue Valley-Randolph who finished with six points while Natalee Strathman of Axtell added five points.

Gold: Kaitlyn Folsom (MH-MA) - 5 points / Devin Aldrich (Perry-Lecompton) - 4 points / Madison Martin (ACCHS) - 4 points / Kaiya Downing (Atchison) - 4 points / Emma Vogel (Oskaloosa) - 3 points / Kenzie Nelson (Hiawatha) - 1 point

Navy: Lauryn Marten (Onaga) - 2 points / Abi Ringel (Onaga) - 2 points / Brynn Shupe (Jackson Heights) - 3 points / Lili Tanking (Holton) - 2 points / Belle Smith (Doniphan West) - 3 points / Cora Thompson (Centralia) - 3 points

Between the two all-star games, Justin Fluke provided a total of 38 in game interviews with 34 senior athletes and all four head coaches!
