Quinn Buessing

After one of the most prolific high school careers the state of Kansas has seen at the 8-man level, former Axtell Eagle Quinn Buessing opened his collegiate career at Highland Community College Sunday and led the Scotties to a 30-14 victory over Fort Scott.

Buessing earned his first college start at quarterback and completed 27-of-31 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown while rushing for a score as well as Highland plays their season here in the spring due to the fall season being postponed by the NJCAA.

He also doubles as the punter for the Scotties and delivered one punt inside of the 20-yard line on Sunday.

This comes after one of the best statistical careers in Kansas 8-man football history at Axtell where he threw for 7,978 yards as a four-year starter with 134 touchdowns and only 26 career interceptions.

He also finished his career with 1,826 rushing yards and 48 touchdowns to go along with 9,804 all-purpose yards and 182 total career touchdowns.

In his senior season Buessing helped lead the Eagles to runner-up finish at state with one of the best season’s we have ever seen at the 8-man level throwing for 2,428 yards and 41 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions.

He added 630 yards on the ground and 20 more scores finishing with over 3,000 all-purpose yards and 61 total touchdowns.

Buessing added to his legacy as the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame announced that he is the record holder for completion percentage in a career at 64 percent.

After a strong start to his collegiate career, Buessing will look to keep it rolling and have a tough test this Saturday as the Scotties are set to travel to No. 3 Garden City with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
