Zeller Leads MIAA in Punting
Jake Zeller

Former Holton Wildcat Jake Zeller is in the middle of his sophomore season as the punter for Washburn University. Zeller is leading the MIAA in punting average at 47.1 yards per punt after a big game against Nebraska-Kearney.

In that game, Zeller had an average of over 52 yards per punt on three attempts, but one of those three attempts went 81 yards. The 81-yard effort ranks third all-time at Washburn.

He won the job last season as a freshman and averaged nearly 42 yards per punt on 41 attempts. At one point last season he connected on a 61-yarder and was named MIAA special teams player of the week.

Zeller earned all-league and all-state honors throughout his high school career at Holton as a punter and defensive back.
