At Memorial Stadium, Holton proved again, they are the class of the Big 7 and whipped Hiawatha 61-14 to become the only Big 7 League squad that is 4-0.  The Class 4A number one ranked Wildcats scored on their fist three drives and would build a 34-0 lead in the first half by scoring on 7 of their first 8 drives.  Hiawatha scored on a pair of pass plays from Brad Chilcoat to Conner Bigham, but fell to 3-1 by allowing 470 yards rushing.

Holton's ground attack was led by Trent Tanking with four touchdowns; Drake Ewing who had 10 carries for 161 yards and a score; and Cameron Karn who registered 114 yards and a touchdown in the balanced attack that saw 14 Wildcats carry the ball.

Hiawatha completed three straight pass plays from Chilcat to Bigham including a 35 yard touchdown with :03 to play in the first half, making the score 34-7 at the break.  However, just like their first two offensive drives, Hiawatha went on a sustained drive before turning the ball over on down to start the third quarter.  Holton scored twice in the third period including their only completed pass of the night, a Jaxon Wright to Ryan Haefke 15 yard TD toss.  Holton also scored on a Brendon Hampton ru with 3:27 to play and ended the night/game with a 5 yard touchdown run by Andrew Reischick with :02 left.  Holton averaged 8.3 yards per carry in the game and had 27 first downs while not turning the ball over.

Hiawatha managed a 200 yard passing game from Brad Chilcoat with Bigham having 8 catches for more than 140 yards; however, the Redhawks had 4 drives that lasted between 7 and 11 plays that did not result in points.  The Hawks also threw their first interception on the year on their second drive which Cameron Karn picked for Holton's first INT of the season.  Holton did have to punt for the first two times in 2012.

Hiawatha must rebound quickly and they play at 3-1 Nemaha Valley who has won three straight and is 3-0 in the Big 7 League.  Holton meanwhile, looks to be the #1 team in Class 4A and will have home games against Jeff West and Perry Lecompton before district play begins.
