It was cold outside on Saturday but inside the Marysville high school gym it was cooking with great volleyball action on the court as 10 teams took part in the Marysville Invitational. Of the 10 teams partaking in the tourney action five were from the Kanzaland area.

The Volleyball action would be highlighted by the Kanzaland area teams on the day as four of the five were in the black pool: Marysville, Nemaha Valley, Sabetha and Valley Heights. Nemaha Valley who's enjoyed success on court and it continued with a perfect 4-0 record in pool play. Finishing second in pool play was Marysville who tallied a 2-2 pool play record. Sabetha finished pool play 1-3, Valley Heights finished 1-3 and Republic County finished 2-2 like Marysville, but lost to the Bulldogs.

Washington County was the only Kanzaland area team in the red pool at the Marysville Invitational. The Tigers breezed through the competition in pool play with straight set wins in three of the four matches, with the match again Concordia going three sets, as they only match that the Tigers had problems with in pool play. Tigers finished pool play 4-0 and advanced to the semifinals; Concordia finished second in the pool.

It would be some great volleyball on display in the semifinals with both matches going to three sets. Washington County was pushed to three sets by Marysville but the Tigers held on to win the match 17-25, 25-19, 26-24. While, Nemaha Valley who won their pool needed three sets to beat Concordia, 25-19, 14-25, 25-21.

This set up a Kanzaland area final with Nemaha Valley and Washington County it was two highly contested sets but the Tigers came out on top as Marysville Invitational champs with a 26-24, 25-23 win.

Marysville fell to Concordia in three sets 24-26, 25-13, 25-22 in the third place game.

Washington County finished 6-0 on the day winning the Marysville Invitational while Nemaha Valley finishd 5-1.
