Mound City won a battle of top 10 8-Man teams in Northwest Missouri Monday night. The 5th ranked Panthers defeated #9 Nodaway-Holt 70-48 to improve to 6-2 on the season. The Trojans are now 4-4 on the season.
Nodaway-Holt led 32-28 at halftime but lost three third quarter fumbles which were all turned into Panther touchdowns.
Panther quarterback Luke Sanders carried the ball 35 times for 281 yards and seven touchdowns in the game and threw for another score in the contest. Mound City runningback Thomas Shifflett had 34 rushing attempts for 255 yards and two scores as Mound City rolled up 579 yards in total offense.
Nodaway-Holt quarterback Nick Patterson hit 15 of 30 pass attempts for 193 yards and three scores. He was also picked off twice including a pair of interceptions by Mound City’s Hayden Marrs.
Patterson also ran for a pair of Trojan TD’s.
