It was playoff volleyball last in Northeast Kansas in the Delaware Valley League as the teams split up from the division placers to decide the league champs and other places.
Meeting up for a chance to be crowned DVL champs were Valley Falls, Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Jefferson County North and Riverside the first and second place finishers in the DVL North and South divisions. In the first matchups Valleys Falls took down Riverside in straight sets (26-24, 25-22), but the Cyclones didn't make its easy for the Dragons. While, the Chargers of JCN was able to dispose Maur Hill in straight sets, having a slightly easier time than Valley Falls (25-15, 25-11).
Valley Falls and JCN both from the South division then meet up for the DVL championship and the Dragons who finished the league season undefeated top the Chargers in straight sets (25-11, 25-14). Riverside and Maur Hill battled it out for a third place finish as the Cyclones came out on top at home (25-11, 25-11).
The battle for fifth through eighth positions in the DVL may have showcased the most entertaining battles on the night as all four matchups at ACCHS went three sets on the evening. Playing for the right to play for fifth place it was ACCHS downing Pleasant Ridge (28-26, 22-252, 25-19) and Immaculata beating Horton (26-28, 25-19, 25-20) in highly contested three set matches. That set up a Raiders versus Tigers matchup in the fifth place game with Immaculata battling back again from losing set number one to a three set win (23-25, 25-20, 25-6). Horton responded after their first match loss on the evening to take down Pleasant Ridge, but the Chargers needed three sets to do so (25-18, 27-29, 25-10).
Ninth through twelfth place finishes were determined between Troy, Oskaloosa, KC Christian and Doniphan West. The Mustangs of Doniphan West took down KC Christian in straight sets at home (25-12, 25-13) to move on to the ninth place game, where they would meet the Troy Trojans who won in three sets over Oskaloosa (25-23, 25-27,21-25). It would be another three set battle but the Trojans came out victorious over Doniphan West for ninth place (29-31, 26-24, 25-18). Bears roared back from their first loss to win in straight sets over KC Christian for eleventh place (25-14, 25-9).
The divisional seventh place finishers, Jackson Heights and McLouth battled it out on the court for thirteenth and fourteenth place. It was the Cobras who struck on the night winning a five set battle (25-20, 25-21, 25-16, 15-25, 25-21).
