Centralia & B&B Headline Five Volleyball Teams From Area Going to State

It was win or go home today as volleyball teams across the state looked to continue their seasons and punch their tickets to the state competitions. Many Kanzaland area teams started the day with a chance to make the state tourney but at the end of the days action only five while continue playing next Friday and Saturday at their respective state tournaments.

Two teams that have been dominate in the Kanzaland area and the state will be heading back to their respective state tournaments, those two are Centralia and B&B. Centralia finished as runner-up at state in Class 1A-Division I last year, while B&B will be defending their Class 1A Division II state title. The Panthers are 36-4 this season, while the Falcons are 35-5.

Both teams breezed through the competition in sub-state winning two matches after a first round bye for each of them. Centralia is looking to continue their strong volleyball tradition as they have the third most state titles with 10. The Panthers are looking to take home their first state title since 2006. The Falcons are the defending state champions and looking to repeat; they also one the state title in 2006.

B&B and Centralia's matches at the state tournament in Hays for them will be aired on 92.1 KMZA and online here at www.mscsports.net.

Three other Kanzaland area teams are headed to the state tournament, also. In Class 2A another Twin Valley League team will be headed to state as the Washington County Tigers won their sub-state winning in straight sets in their first two matches but in the finals they took down top seed Burlingame in three sets. Tigers are 36-3 this season.

Joining the Tigers at the Class 2A state volleyball tournament will be the Jefferson County North Chargers as they too as a number two seed in their sub-state won and earned a spot in the state tournament, winning all their matches in straight sets.

Finally the other team to make the state tourney from the Kanzaland area comes from Class 3A, as the Marysville Bulldogs as the four seed in the Nemaha Valley sub-state earned the sub-state championship and state bid. The Bulldogs rattled off three wins to improve to 23-20 on the season, winning in straight sets in the first two matches before facing second seed, Nemaha Valley in the finals and needing three sets to take down the host Raiders.

State tournament action gets underway Friday (October 26th) and also Saturday (October 27th).
