Atchison Girls Tennis Opens Season with Solid Performance Against Benton

The high school girl's tennis season started off on a solid foot for the Atchison lady Red as they squared off against Benton on Tuesday to open the season. 

In the singles number one and two competitions Celina Binkley and Stormy Knott both hit the court for Atchison and while each taking a loss it was a though hard fought matchup that went down to the wire in each contest. Binkley stepping into singles action this year fell 9-7 to her opponent from Benton, while Knott took her competition to a tie breaker before falling 9-8 (7-9). Jade Boldridge, Brienna Dove and Olivia Wabski all also competed in singles competition and picked up wins for Atchison. Boldrigde and Wabski each won their matches 8-4, while Dove won hers 8-6.

In double's competition, Boldridge and Wabski teamed up to snatch a 9-7 win in doubles number two action, while in doubles number one it was the team of Dove and Alyxus Thomas in action for Atchison and while they took the loss in came in a though 7-9 matchup. Binkley and Knott also teamed up for a doubles match and fell in the contest 6-1. 

The season rolls along for Atchison on Thursday as they travel to Wamego for action.
