Nemaha Central senior Reagan Gerety struck out 18 Centralia batters on Monday afternoon leading the Thunder to a 4-2 win.

Gerety pitched all seven innings allowing five hits, two runs, 18 strikeouts, and no walks.

She struck out the side in the first, fourth, and sixth innings and struck out two batters in the other four innings. Gerety actually posted four strikeouts in the fourth inning but a passed ball allowed the runner to reach first base.

The Thunder scored two runs in the first inning with the highlight being an RBI single by Emma Hermesch. They would tally two more in the third inning with Gerety posting an RBI single.

Centralia had their five-game winning streak snapped with the loss as they got one run in the fourth and one run in the sixth.

Blair Wehling pitched all seven innings for the Panthers and allowed two earned runs on eight hits with one walk.

The Thunder would go on to sweep the doubleheader as they defeated the Panthers 2-1 in game two in Seneca.
