The B&B Falcons have been a power in 8-Man Division II football for awhile now and have been ranked the number one team in the state all year in 8-Man DII. Falcons started their run in the playoffs last night to what would be their fifth straight state championship game appearance if they come out victourious in their next two games.
Falcons who have dominated over the last several years, continued to dominate last night, dispatching quickly of the Goessel Bluebirds, 55-8 game called at the half. Goessel started off with the possession recieving the kick but it would be a three and out and then B&B partially blocked a punt to set up great field position on the Bluebirds 29 yard line. Only one play was needed by the Falcons before points were on the board as junior tailback, Brandon Bergman scampered for a 29 yard score and with two point conversion successful the Falcons lead it 8-0 just over a minute into the game.
After that B&B would continue to soar throughout the game scoring on all seven of the drives in the ball game. The Falcons would score the next two scores with senior fullback, Dustin Deters making big plays on his way to 102 yards on eight carries and three touchdown night (2 rushing TDs; 1 recieving TD). Dustin was the recipient of a 10 yard, Dustin Rottinghaus pass for a score, then followed that up on the next drive with a brust for 46 yards into the endzone. B&B after three offensive drives in the game lead it 22-0, with Goessel struggling to move the ball.
The Bluebirds on the fourth offensive drive finally had life breathed into their offense with a huge third down run by senior quarterback, Trey Schmidt who shot off for a 39 yard run, getting down to the Baileyville five yard line. Next play Goessel went into the endzone with a five yard touchdown pass thrown by Schmidt to his receiver Zach Showalter, making it 22-8 after the successful two point conversion.
After that score by the Bluebirds the only birds that were flying high was the Falcons as they rattled off the next 33 points scoring on all the rest of their offensive drives.
B&B quickly answered Goessel's score with a Rottinghaus to Cameron Haug 24 yard touchdown pass on a drive that just took 1:28. After Rottinghaus' second touchdown pass of the night and another successful two point conversion B&B wouldn't stop scoring. Rottinghaus took the next score into the endzone himself on a one yard keeper, then would toss his third score of the day this one to Tyler Deters for 31 yards. Finally the scoring on the night was capped off by Dustin Deters for his second rushing touchdown this one from 15 yards.
Rottinghaus finished the night going 10-11 for 185 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 33 yards on the ground. Receiving it was Tyler Deters who grabbed one of the three touchdowns that had plenty of yards, also with 94 yards on five receptions.
B&B Falcon defense was stellar as they have been all season allowing 19 rushing yards and 105 yards passing by the Bluebirds. B&B with the win improve to 10-0 on the season and move on to regional play action were they will travel to Caldwell on Saturday with game time at 4:00pm.
