Rain, rain and more rain leading to postponements that was the story of the Class 3A softball Regional in Oskaloosa for most of the week until the action finally got underway and the host Oskaloosa Bears claimed the Regional title to head back to State, where they were back in 2014.

The action finally got rolling on Thursday with the first and Perry Lecompton topped Hiawatha 5-3, but the rain then moved in again pushing the rest of the action to Friday. On Friday the first round rolled on with Pleasant Ridge getting past Riverside 7-5 and the host Oskaloosa winning 15-0 in four innings over ACCHS. The Bears out-hit the Tigers 14-1 in the contest and scored early with an eight run first inning to cruise to the win. Paige Lowe led the Bears offense with three hits and three RBI's, while Brylie Bassett and Madison Miller each had a multi-hit game and Raegan Hamm earned the win in the circle.

In the Semifinals the Bears took on Perry Lecompton and cruised to the 11-0 five inning win courtesy of the pitching of Haidyn Bassett who tossed a five inning no-hitter, recording nine strikeouts. Bassett added a three hit game at the plate, while Jaden Courter had two hits and a pair of RBI's in the win for the Bears. In the other Semifinal Royal Valley who had a first round bye as the top seed cruised past Pleasant Ridge 16-1.

That set a matchup of the top two seeds in the Regional both teams with just a pair of losses on the season as Royal Valley took on Oskaloosa. The Bears struck first in the contest plating a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and went on to score every half inning at the plate ultimately claiming the 13-0 win in five innings over Royal Valley. Haidyn Bassett tossed five innings of two-hit shutout ball to earn the win in the circle and help guide Oskaloosa to the win as the Bears also out-hit Royal Valley 11-2 in the contest. Miller led the Bears at the plate with three hits and six RBI's in the win.

After a 3-0 Regional the Bears are headed to the Class 3A State tournament with a 21-2 record and will be the four seed taking on Lyons in the first round on Thursday, May 26th in Manhattan at 7:00pm.
