It has been a great season for the McLouth Bulldogs from the start of the year when they took down a solid Class 3A team in Nemaha Valley, but on Friday night that season came to an end when they took on a tough unbeaten Lyndon team.
Lyndon controlled the game from the onset and continued to be one of the stingiest defenses in Class 2-1A only allowing 34 points coming into the game against McLouth all season and only allowed a potent Bulldog offense to score six points, as Lyndon won the game 39-6.
It was only 13-0 at the half in favor of Lyndon, then Lyndon would score 20 in the third quarter, while McLouth registered their only tallying in the third, also. Lyndon tacked on six more points on in the fourth quarter for good measure.
McLouth overall on the night registered 214 yards with 145 of that coming via the air from quarterback Marc Walbridge on 11-23 passing. His receiver, Nick McAferty grabbed seven of those 11 completions for 127 yards including a 52 yard TD catch the lone score by the Bulldogs.
For Lyndon outside of the dominating defense they put up 401 total yards of offense with 357 of them being on the ground. Tailback, Skylar Farwell tallied 104 yards on 10 carries and a score. Quarterback, Joe Walsh added two rushing TD's, while tossing another to Dawson Swinehart for 34 yards. Josh Owens got into the action with a rushing score, too.
Lyndon (11-0) will next play at Centralia on Friday in Class 2-1A Sub-state semifinals.
For McLouth they end the season with a 9-2 record making the playoffs for the first time since 2005 and also winning the Delaware Valley League South title and a district title.
