Royal Valley Wrestlers Compete at Baldwin

Royal Valley Panthers hit the mats on Friday at the Baldwin Duals Tournament and competed well with the upperclassmen leading the way. 

The Panthers notched an 18-13 overall record in actual matches wrestled on the day competing against grapplers from Baldwin, Prairie View, Burlington, Independence and Reegades JV. The trio of Karsen Smith, Blake Garrison and Jacob Box accounting for 12 of the 18 wins on the mats. Smith posted a 5-0 day on the mats at 152lbs wrestling in all five duals for Royal Valley and won via decision in two contests and by pinfall in the three others, while leading the Panthers in takedowns eight and escapes three at the tournament. Smith is 9-3 overall on the season. 

Garrison notched a 4-0 day in actual matches at 195lbs wrestled winning all by pin to improve to 11-1 on the season with seven overall pinfall wins on the year. Box who ranks third at 195lbs in Class 3-2-1A notched a 3-0 day on the mats in actual matches (220lbs) and continues to improve after just starting his wrestling career three years ago as a freshman. 

Garrett Prusyer at 120lbs posted a 3-0 day in matches wrestled, while Dalton Ware (106lbs) and Zach Burger (170lbs) each picked up one win in actual matches wrestled on the day. 

The Panthers continue their wrestling season next Friday, December 16th at the Marion Invite in Marion, Kansas.
