It was Twin Valley League action on Friday night in Centralia as the Panthers hosted Valley Heights and ultimately it was a split on the night. The lady Panthers pounced early and cruised to the 52-23 win, while Valley Heights held off a Centralia run and secured a 49-40 road win.

On the prowl early Centralia jumped up 6-0 in the first two minutes of the contest as they established the paint with Cassidy Haufler early and Valley Heights shooting struggles from earlier in the week continued on Friday netting just four points in the first quarter and trailed 14-4 after one. The lead grew up to 21 in the second as Centralia led 27-6 with 3:32 remaining in the first half as Morgan Kramer lit up the scoreboard in the second with nine points in the frame and entering halftime Centralia led 29-10. The Panthers continued to pad their lead in the second half with an 18-4 third quarter and cruised to the win 52-23.

Kramer led the Panthers on the night with 18 points and set the tone early with 13 by halftime earning her Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" on KMZA. Haufler added 10 points on the evening, while Katie Glatczak chipped in 14 points helping Centralia move to 16-1 on the season and move to 11-0 in the TVL.

In the loss Valley Heights fell to 9-8 overall and 4-5 in TVL play while seeing their seven-game win streak come to an end. Kayla Smith led the Mustangs in the loss scoring 10 points.

It was close the first time around in the TVL tournament when the boys teams meet up and it was high energy early but only 5-4 after one quarter with Valley Heights up. The Mustangs pushed the lead to nine at 16-7 in the second quarter but a little 4-0 run to finish the first half by Centralia made it a five point contest 16-11 at intermission. Bryan Yungeberg helped the Mustangs to the lead by halftime scoring 11 of the teams 16 points in the first half. Valley lead grew in the second half as the Mustangs going up by double figures lead 27-15 but the Panthers didn't go away dwindling the lead down to eight by the end of the third at 31-23 with Nathan Rempe having a five point run for Centralia to help the Panthers get within eight. Teams traded buckets in the fourth until late in the game when Centralia mounted another run and behind seven points form Jason Gore got the Valley Heights lead down to five at 45-40 with 1:02 left but the Mustangs finished the game with a pair of free throws and a bucket to grab the win 49-40.

Yungerberg led Valley Heights with 19 points helping the Mustangs to the lead early scoring 11 in the first half and Logan Woodyard added a tough 11 points making heady plays late and both guys got the nod for the Community National Bank "Players of the Bank" honors on KMZA. The win moves Valley Heights to 11-7 on the year and 5-4 in TVL action.

The loss puts Centralia at 7-11 overall and 4-7 in the TVL as Gore led the team in the loss with 13 points, while Daegan Steinlage posted 10 points.

Three games remain in the regular season for both teams as they hit the court again on Tuesday as Valley Heights hosts Wetmore, while Centralia travels to Marysville for a non-league contest.
