Riverside Hosts Track Relays With Troy & Oskaloosa In Action

2017 Riverside Track Relays Results (3-31-17) - Girls & Boys

A trio of area track teams were scheduled to get their season underway this past Thursday but had to wait one extra day as Mother Nature postponed the action until Friday. On Friday the season started for Riverside, Troy and Oskaloosa from the area as the Cyclones hosted track action with eight teams competing overall. 

On the boys side Oskaloosa put together the best team performance of the three area teams taking second place with 114.5 total points, finishing behind Bishop LeBlond who won the Riverside Relays with 227 total points. The host Riverside had their boys take third, while Kansas School of the Deaf finished fourth and Osborn placed fifth. Troy, DeKalb and Kickapoo Nation School finished sixth, seventh and eighth as teams. 

In the girls competition DeKalb posted 188 points to take first place while Troy led the area teams finishing second with 104 points. Osborn, Oskaloosa and Bishop LeBlond rounded out the Top five team performances placing third, fourth and fifth, respectively. While the Kansas School of the Deaf, Riverside and Kickapoo Nation School finished sixth, seventh and eighth. 

Oskaloosa on their way to second as a team for the boys were led by John Tarwater who won three events sweeping the hurdles winning 110m hurdles behind a time of 17.49 and taking the gold in the 300m hurdles with a time of 43.50, while also leaping to a first place finish in the high jump using a leap of 5'08. Marik Koch and Gabe Robbins each also notched first place finishes for the Bears taking first in the 800m run (2:30.19) and triple jump (36'06.50), respectively. While Oskaloosa's boys 4x100m Relay took first with a time of 50.85 and the 4x400m Relay placed second, while both the 4x800m Relay and 4x200m Relay each took third. Kobe Reid snagged a pair of third place finishes for the Oskaloosa boys placing third in the discus and javelin, while Scott Urban took second in the javelin. 

The lady Oskaloosa Bears were led by Alexi Adams who brought home a pair of gold medals and also a third place finish. Adams with times of 28.05 and 1:08.35 won the 200 and 400 meter dashes, while taking third in the 100 meter dash. Maddi Taylor also garnered a first place finish with a toss of 73'11 to take first in the javelin, while placing third in the shot put. 

Troy was led by their girls’ team on the day and a three gold medal day by Amanda Stock who won the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.73 and leapt to victories in the high jump (5'0) and triple jump (31'07). Morgan Masters snagged a pair of first place finishes to help the Troy ladies take second as a team as she won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.02 and won the long jump with a leap of 14'02. Brylee Weidmer, Kourtney Davis and Cassidy Rosenberger all picked up second place finishes for the Trojans notching those performances in the 300 meter hurdles, high jump and long jump, respectively, while the lady Trojans 4x400 meter relay team also took the silver. Third place finishes were earned in the 800 meter run and triple jump by Holly Williams and Lexi Norris, respectively for Troy also. 

A individual day of four first place finishes led the host Riverside Cyclones in their first track action of the season as Tre'Nez Wilkinson sprinted his way to wins in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 11.01, 23.09 and 53.29, while also posting a leap of 19'05 to win the long jump. Nine other Top three performances were earned by the Riverside Cyclone boys track team on the day. Yegor Dittemore placed second in the triple jump and third in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, while Nohl Vogel and Dakota Moulden took second and third in the shot put. Matthew Kline picked up a pair of silver medals after competing in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, while Gage Harness finished third in the 800 meter run. The Riverside boys 4x100 meter weight throwers relay team also took second on the day. In the girls competition Lindsey Whitten registered the only Top three performance for the Cyclones taking third in the 200 meter dash. 

All three track squads are set to continue their track season next Tuesday, April 4th as Riverside will travel to Perry Lecompton for a Big Seven Quad, Troy will participate in the Valley Heights Invitational and Oskaloosa will host a track Invite.
