Washington County & Blue Valley-Randolph Compete at Riley County Track Invite

A pair of Twin Valley League schools kept the track season rolling competing at the Freezing Falcon Relays at Riley County.

Both Washington County and Blue Valley-Randolph were in action at the Relays on Friday and strung together some strong performances. The Tiger boys behind 103 total points earned second place as a team finishing only 16 points behind Abilene who took first, while the lady Tigers finished eighth as a team out of nine teams. Blue Valley girls earned fourth as a team, while Abilene took first and the Ram boys finished eighth on the day out of nine teams. 

Washington County was led by seven first place performances by their boy's team on the way to second place as a team, while the lady Tigers had one event win on the day. Jerrod Hoover brought home three golds winning the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.27, while leaping to the high jump win behind a leap of 6'08 and a toss of 166'00 gave him first place in the javelin. On the track Eric Miller won the 800 meter run (2:13.82), while in the field events Jae Eaton won the shot put (53'06), Hunter Kier took the gold in the discus (152'00) and Levi Gauby place first in the pole vault (13'07). Eaton added a third place in the discus, while Kier placed fourth in the shot put and Gauby finished second in the triple jump. Dawson Miller also grabbed a second place in the javelin for Washington County boys. 

The lady Tigers were led by Jenna Hennerberg who won the shot put behind a toss of 34'11.50, while Tess Cecrle earned fifth place in the same event. Brenna Linenberger earned second in the javelin and fourth place in the discus.
 
Georgia Hatesohl led the way for Blue Valley on the day as she won the 200 meter dash after posting a time of 27.82 and won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.69. Hatesohl also grabbed a silver medal in the 300 meter hurdles. Four more lady Rams grabbed Top five finishes including an event win for Katie Hutson who won the 3200 meter run (13:45.59). Abby McIntyre, Elizabeth Wright and Brooklyn Zoeller finished second in the high jump, third in the discus and fifth in the javelin. In the boys competition Cole Montgomery earned third in the high jump and fifth in the 1600 meter run, while Trevor Schwerdt placed fourth in the 400 meter run. 

The track season continues for both Washington County and Blue Valley as the Tigers will host track action on Tuesday, April 11th, while the Rams will compete next at the Frankfort Invite on Friday, April 14th.
