Five Area Football Teams In Rankings Across State After Week 2

The high school football season is two weeks old and the action is continuing to heat up all across Kansas. After two weeks five area teams find themselves in the rankings across the State, while several others are getting attention in many polls. 

Leading the charge for the area teams in the rankings are the Nemaha Central Thunder who are ranked #1 in most polls in Class 3A outside of the Kpreps rankings which as the Thunder at #2 behind only Silver Lake. Nemaha Central is 2-0 to open the season after a 55-14 win over Royal Valley last Friday night. Marysville Bulldogs joined the Thunder in the 3A rankings last week and the Bulldogs are ranked as high as #4 this week in one poll (Kansasprepfootball.com), while coming in at #5 in many other rankings. Bulldogs are 2-0 after taking down a 4A Abilene 43-20 last Friday. Both Sabetha and Perry Lecompton are getting looks in the 3A rankings after both starting the season 2-0. 

The 8-Man Division II polls continue to be held down by Hanover who rolled past Udall 54-6 last Friday to improve to 2-0 on the season and the Wildcats continue to hold the #1 spot across the State. While in 8-Man Division I a 2-0 start by Clifton-Clyde has the Eagles getting looks in many polls. 

Class 2-1A features two area teams in the rankings with four others getting looks. The Jefferson County North Chargers have charged out to a 2-0 start to the season cruising past Maranatha 50-6 last week and come in ranked #2 by Kpreps & VarsityKansas and #3 by Kansasprepfootball.com and Topeka-Capital Journal. Valley Heights Mustangs have ran past their opponents to open the season 2-0 most recently winning 60-20 over Doniphan West. The Mustangs are in all the all rankings coming in as high as #3 (VarsityKansas), while checking in at #4 by Kpreps and #5 in the other two rankings. Jackson Heights is 2-0 to start the year and getting attention in the rankings as are the 1-1 Centralia, Troy and Doniphan West teams. 

Class 4A-Division II had the Holton Wildcats in the rankings to start the season but the Wildcats have fallen out of the Top five but are stilling getting looks for the rankings after a 1-1 start to the season.
