GIRLS = Nemaha Central 42, Holton 20

It was a rematch from a game that Holton won in overtime at home in December, but this time around Nemaha Central would get the win with ease in a game that featured some rough shooting percentages and 41 total turnovers.

Nemaha Central trailed 6-5 after one quarter, but used a 15-3 second stanza to take control and put the game away allowing just two points in the third frame to lead 29-11 entering the fourth.  Cali Honeymon led all scorers with nine points while Reagan Gerety, Hallie Holthaus, and Zoey Sudbeck all added six points. The Thunder overcame 18 turnovers and won their fifth straight game improving to 5-3 on the season.

Holton was plagued by 23 turnovers and never got going offensively with their top three scorers that all average double figures held to just five total field goals. Elizabeth Schuster scored seven of her nine points in the fourth quarter but no other Wildcat had more than four points as Holton had a five-game win streak snapped and fell to 5-3 on the season.

BOYS = Nemaha Central 59, Holton 38

The Nemaha Central boys improved to 8-0 and their closest game all season was a 17-point win against Holton in December. Friday night at home, the Thunder hit eight treys and had eight players score in route to a 21-point victory against the Wildcats. Kaden Peterson had 17 points and Evan Olberding had 16 including four made triples as NC slowly pulled away from a 13-11 first quarter lead.

Holton was only down 34-30 with five minutes to play in the third quarter but was outscored 25-8 the final 14 minutes of the night. Brayden Peek had 13 of his 16 points in the first half for the Wildcats who drop to 2-6 on the season. Brody Meyer added 8 points but nobody else had more than four points for Holton who made 10 of 13 free throws on the night but was outscored 16-8 in the fourth period.
