Twelve Area Volleyball Players Named to All-State Tournament Teams

The high school volleyball season is in the books and 2017 marked another strong year in Northeast Kansas for volleyball with six teams at State with three Top four finishes including a State title. With their performance at State 12 area athletes earned All-State tournament team honors from the Kansas Volleyball Association. 

Leading the way in the honors is the Centralia Panthers who had four gals earn a spot on the Class 1A-DI All-State tournament team as the Panthers capped the year with their 14th State volleyball title in school history. Senior, Katie Glatczak snagged All-State tournament honors at setter, while juniors, Madison Lueger and Maegan Koch grabbed the honors at the outside hitter spot as did sophomore, Kennedy Becker. 

Hanover Wildcat junior, Macy Doebele also earned All-State Tournament team honors in 1A-DI helping the Wildcats to State for the second straight year. 

Class 1A-DII saw the Axtell Eagles back at State again and the Eagles had senior, Trisha Mathewson pick up All-State tournament team honors. 

Valley Heights back at State for first time since 2009 and the Mustang finished third in Class 2A and had a trio of gals earn All-State tournament honors. Seniors, Shea Manley and Kayla Smith pick up the honors at setter and outside hitter, while sophomore, Sam Vermetten picked up the honors also at outside hitter. 

The Nemaha Central Thunder finished the year with a fourth place finish in Class 3A and had a pair of gals earn All-State tournament honors. Senior, Laura Macke and junior, Jacy Dalinghaus picked up the honors as outside hitters. 

Class 4A-DII saw the Holton Wildcats in action back at State for first time since 2011 and junior, Regan Baum earned All-State tournament team honors for the Wildcats.
