At State for only the third time in school history the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Raven boys basketball team recorded a Top four finishes for the third time this year taking fourth place. Cheney topped Maur Hill in the Class 3A third place contest as the Ravens fell 62-35.
Cheney started the contest with a 10-7 first quarter as Maur Hill looked to hang tough early but Cheney continued to find the bottom of the net in the second quarter outscoring the Ravens 21-5 in the second to lead 31-12 at the half. The Ravens struggled to hold onto the ball throughout the contest finishing with 34 turnovers and Cheney turned those into 36 points to help propel themselves past Maur Hill as the game finished with a 62-35 score.
A double-double by Jared Thibault led Maur Hill as he scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Colten Kocour tallied 12 points.
The Ravens opened the State tournament with the tight first round win over Council Grove 59-56 and then fell in the Semifinals 63-51 against Halstead before wrapping the season in the third place game falling 62-35 to Cheney.
Fourth place finish wraps up the basketball season for Maur Hill with a 23-3 record on the season.
