Hanover Girls Capture Second Straight 1A-DI State Title

After not only winning their first ever State tournament games in program history last year and captured the Class 1A-DI State the first Hanover girls basketball history the Wildcats matched that State title with another this year repeating as 1A-DI Champions. Hanover finished their run to repeat with a 48-28 over St. Paul. 

Tight early and it was gridlocked at 8-8 after the first quarter and St. Paul led 17-15 at the half with each team shooting 4-21 (St. Paul) and 4-19 (Hanover) from the floor in the first half. Hanover found their groove in the second half going 9-11 from the field in the third quarter and outscored St. Paul 22-2 in the frame to take control and cruise to the win finishing the game with an 11-9 fourth winning by the widest margin they have over the past two years in their six State games claiming the 48-28 win. 

Macy Doebele spear headed Hanover's performance recording a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds while going 6-6 from the free throw line. Claire Zarybnicky tallied 14 points and Tianna Lohse scored 11 points. St. Paul struggled from the field in the contest for the game going just 8-44 from the field. 

The Wildcats opened State by sneaking past Frankfort in the first round 50-47 and then beat South Central 54-46 in the Semifinals before taking the State title with the 48-28 win over St. Paul. 

Hanover finishes the year 21-3 on the season and the Class 1A-DI State Champions for the second straight year.
