Three Area Basketball Players Selected for KBCA All-Star Games

2018 KBCA All-Star Game Players - Boys & Girls

The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has selected the rosters for the annual KBCA All-Star games that will be played on June 23rd at Kansas Wesleyan University at Mabee Arena in Salina, Kansas. The girls game will be at 6:00pm and the boys to follow. 

Three area basketball seniors have been selected to the KBCA All-Star game this year as Gabe Pieschl of Marysville was selected for the boy’s contest, while Katie Glatczak of Centralia and Kayla Smith of Valley Heights each have been selected for the girls game. 

Pieschl wrapped up his Marysville basketball career helping guide the Bulldogs to the 4A-DII State Tournament were the Bulldogs fell to the eventual State Champs Hayden in the first round finishing 18-4. As a junior, Pieschl helped guide the Bulldogs to the 3A State title the schools first since 2017 posting a 22-4 record. Gabe earned first team All-State honors in 4A-DII and was also named Top 10 All-Classes by Sports in Kansas and Top 15 All-State by the Topeka Capital Journal. 

Glatczak wrapped up her Centralia Panther basketball career earning first team All-State by multiple publications and second team by another. She helped the Panthers to State three of her four years taking third in 2017, runner-up in 2015 and 1A-DI State Champions in 2016. The Centralia senior is set to continue her basketball career at Washburn University next year. 

Smith finished her Valley Heights Mustangs basketball career by helping the Mustangs notch a 2A State runner-up finish this season finishing 21-6 overall it marked the teams second State runner-up finish in school history. Kayla got the nod for first team All-State by multiple publications. 

The annual KBCA All-Star game is set for June 23rd at Kansas Wesleyan University at Mabee Arena in Salina, Kansas with the girl’s game at 6:00pm and the boys to follow.
