For the first time in 29 years, Peru State College has a Capital One Academic All-America@ First Team honoree.  Tim Oehring, a senior defensive lineman from Lincoln, was named to the list that was released on Monday by CoSIDA.

The Capital One College Division Academic All-America@ football team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian, and two-year institutions.

Oehring is just the third Bobcat football player to be honored.  In 1983, Pat Mertens of Hastings was recognized as a First Team member on the GTE Academic All-America Team.  Later, in 1995, Korey Reiman, originally from Virginia (Lewiston HS) and now of Lincoln, earned Second Team honors.  Since then, Capital One has taken over the sponsorship of the Academic All-America honors.
