Centralia Controls Second Half to Race Past Jackson Heights

The Centralia Panthers picked up their second straight win of the season as they controlled the pace of the second half to get by Jackson Heights, 36-12 on Friday night. 

The game was close throughout the first half but Centralia had a key touchdown late in the second quarter converting on a fourth down in the redzone. 

The Panthers dominated time of possession including in the second half when they took nine minutes off the clock in the third quarter with their opening drive of the second half. 

The ground game was key as Centralia rushed for 303 yards and averaged over six yards per carry. 

Jarod Blaha led the ground and pound attack for Centralia with 15 carries and 159 yards including a 64 yard touchdown run on the second play of the game. Centralia quarterback Ethan McNalley added 90 yards rushing including completing all three of his passes for 29 yards and a touchdown. 

Jackson Heights tallied 167 yards of total offense and was led by Wyatt Bacon with nine carries for 44 yards. Cobras quarterback Jason Bosley completed 8 of 15 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown while adding 20 yards rushing on 14 carries. 

Centralia (2-1) will host Valley Heights on Friday in week four while Jackson Heights (2-1) will be back at home hosting Wabaunsee. Both games are Class 1A district two games.
