3A/4A State Cross Country Recap: Sabetha Girls Finish 8th; Hiawatha Boys 11th

The Sabetha girls cross country team posted an 8th place finish at the 3A State Meet in Wamego on Saturday. 

Sophomore Leah Lukert paved the way for the Bluejays finishing in 21st place with a time of 21:31.5. Freshman Laura Metzger finished in the top-30 at 28th. 

Other Bluejays competing were freshman Lauren Bowles (64th), freshman Ellyannah Clinton (74th), sophomore Emerson Montgomery (93rd), and senior Jadyn Dorn (97th). 

Nemaha Central sophomore Hailey Nordhus posted a 42nd place finish and Royal Valley junior Cheyenne Hittle finished in 54th place.

The Hiawatha boys cross country team finished their 2021 season with an 11th place finish at the 3A State Meet on Saturday in Wamego. 

Junior Camden Bachman was the top finisher for the Red Hawks placing 34th and sophomore Felix McCartney finished in 59th place. 

Other Red Hawks competing were sophomore Aden Geisendorf (76th), junior David Keo (80th), junior Jordan Hodge (85th), junior Camden Thonen (87th), and sophomore Kacer Knudson (98th). 

The Bluejays of Sabetha had two representatives with senior Tyrese Bishop and sophomore Kalvin Evans. Bishop posted a time of 17:22.2 which was good for 16th place while Evans finished in 32nd place. 

Nemaha Central's John Langill finished in 27th and Royal Valley's Calvin Ogden posted a top-40 finish with a 36th place finish.

In Class 4A, Holton had two runners with sophomore's Rylan Pittaway and Piper Robinson. Robinson finished in 48th place while Pittaway finished in 56th place.
