Nemaha Central and Sabetha Split Tuesday Night Doubleheader

It was the Nemaha Central girls and Sabetha boys picking up wins on Tuesday night in a doubleheader in Seneca. 

Girls: Sabetha 32, Nemaha Central 45

The Thunder girls have moved one step closer to another Big 7 league title with a win over Sabetha on Tuesday night. 

Nemaha Central (15-1, 10-0) jumped out to an eight point first quarter lead and built it to 25-11 at halftime. Both teams were low scoring in the third quarter but Nemaha Central was able to hold on for the win. 

The Thunder was led by Addy Holthaus with 14 points and eight rebounds as she was our KNZA player of the game. Ella Larkin added 11 points and five rebounds. 

Sabetha (9-7, 6-4) was led once again by Mary Lukert as she finished with 22 points. 

Boys: Sabetha 57, Nemaha Central 36

The Sabetha Bluejays moved a step closer to clinching a Big 7 league title as they take care of the Thunder to sweep the season series. 

Sabetha (16-0, 10-0) continues to show why their ranked #1 in Class 3A as they built a 14-point halftime lead and never looked back. 

Matthew Garber led Sabetha with 20 points as he was our KNZA player of the game. Davis Rokey added 12 points and nine rebounds. 

Nemaha Central (7-9, 5-5) has now lost five of their last seven games and were led by Abe Hilbert with 11 points and six rebounds while Gavin Cain added nine points. 

Up next for both on Friday, Sabetha returns home to host Jefferson West while Nemaha Central will travel to Perry Lecompton.
