2023 Sports in Kansas Girls Basketball Player of the Year Finalists

Sports in Kansas has announced their 2023 Girls Basketball Player of the Year finalists. 

Among the 14 finalists in Class 3A include Addison Schletzbaum of ACCHS plus the duo from Silver Lake with Kenzie McDaniel and McKinley Kruger. 

ACCHS posted one of their best seasons in school history while Silver Lake finished fourth place at the State Tournament in Hutchinson. 

Among the 16 finalists in Class 2A include a Jackson Heights duo with Kaylee Thompson and Kanyon Olberding along with Riverside's Taylor Weishaar. 

Jackson Heights lost to Riverside in the Sub-State Championship game with the Cyclones posting their best season ever getting all the way to the 2A State Title game. 

The TVL is well represented with the Class 1A-I finalists. Doniphan West has Avery Weathersbee and Kyra Johnson on the list. You also have Centralia's Oen Deters, Frankfort's Hattie Gros, and Clifton Clyde's Shea Wurtz. 

Doniphan West won the State Championship for the first time in school history while Frankfort finished third place in Dodge City. 

Hanover has two finalists in Class 1A-II with Ceegan Atkins and Anna Jueneman. 

Defensive Player of the Year finalists include Antil Snoddy of Atchison in Class 4A, Kyra Johnson of Doniphan West and Ceegan Atkins of Hanover.
