Girls: Team Gold holds off Team Navy to win Northeast Kansas All-Star Game

It was Team Gold holding off Team Navy in the girls Northeast Kansas All-Star basketball game on Sunday afternoon at Highland Community College by a final score of 63-59. 

They went with the college rules playing four 10-minute quarters with a 30 second shot clock. 

Team Navy led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter and they would build a double-digit lead in the second quarter. Team Gold closed out the half on an 11-0 run to trail 26-25. 

The game was back and forth throughout the third quarter with Team Navy leading by five at the end of three 48-43. Team Gold would put together their most efficient quarter in the fourth as they would outscore Team Navy 20-11 to secure the win. 

All 11 girls for Team Gold scored with Nemaha Central's Addy Holthaus leading the way with 15. Claire Cole of Doniphan West finished with nine while Centralia's Lena Haverkamp and Hanover's Massey Holle each finished with seven. 

11 of 12 girls scored for Team Navy as they posted three players in double figures. Aleah Wallisch of ACCHS led the way with 14 while Hiawatha's Darcy Lierz finished with 13 and Mary Lukert of Sabetha with 10. 

Team Gold members included Claire Cole, Kyra Johnson, Avery Weathersbee, Sophia Bott, Claire Beikmann, Jessica Gruber, Addy Holthaus, Ella Larkin, Lena Haverkamp, Massey Holle, and Hannah Kocour. 

Team Navy members included Natalie Nitz, Kanyon Olberding, Kaylee Thompson, Megan Beier, Addison Schletzbaum, Paityn Engemann, Darcy Lierz, Mary Lukert, Claire Jobbins, Tiara Dodd, Aleah Wallisch, and Caidence Brune.
