The Nemaha Central Thunder remained unbeaten after a 26-0 win on the road over Perry-Lecompton on Friday night.

The Kaws got off to a good start by stopping Nemaha Central’s offense on their first drive of the game. However, things turned quickly as senior Cooper Kramer intercepted Perry-Lecompton quarterback Tristan Gorden at the Kaws’ 19-yard line.

On the very next play, Thunder sophomore quarterback Carter Hajek hit junior wide receiver Sam Nordhus in the endzone for a touchdown to put them up 6-0.

Nemaha Central got their second score on an end-around from senior Carter Rottinghaus for a 23-yard touchdown to give the Thunder a 12-0 lead.

Hajek found the endzone with his legs for back-to-back scores of 69 and 26 yards which gave them a 26-0 lead at halftime.

The Thunder’s defense continued to be relentless in the second half with senior cornerbacks Aidan Broxterman and Rottinghaus not allowing anything behind them.

The defensive line made up of seniors Abe Hilbert, Holden Bass and Josh Gonzalez wouldn’t allow the Kaws to get anything on the ground either.

Apart from a fumble and a couple of penalties, Nemaha Central played a fairly mistake-free second half and were able to escape Week 3 with a victory.

As for Perry-Lecompton, they fall to 1-2 on the season and will play at home against Holton to start district play.
