The Nemaha Central Thunder extended their winning streak to 21 games as they closed out the regular season with a 28-0 win at Sabetha on Friday night.

The #1 ranked Thunder (8-0) continued their dominance on both sides of the ball as the win was also their seventh straight shutout win.

Nemaha Central led 7-0 at halftime thanks to a 6-yard touchdown run by quarterback Carter Hajek in the first quarter. Both teams were able to force punts and get big defensive stops across the first half.

#2 ranked Sabetha (7-1) failed on a fourth-and-one play on their first possession of the second half and the Thunder were able to capitalize. Hajek found Caleb Strathman for a 19-yard touchdown pass to cap off a 58 yard drive to extend the lead to 14-0.

The Thunder would put the game away in the fourth quarter with two more touchdowns. Hajek added another rushing score with an 11-yard run while Strathman added another score with a 58-yard sprint to the endzone on an end around play.

Nemaha Central outgained Sabetha 305-125 in total yards and 255-69 in rushing yards. Hajek finished the game with 30 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns while completing 4-of-6 passes for 50 yards and another touchdown.

Strathman posted solid numbers with three carries for 71 yards and a touchdown while adding four receptions for 50 yards and another score.

The win for Nemaha Central secured both the District and Big 7 league titles for this season. Up next for both will be the first round of the playoffs in week nine. Nemaha Central will host Pleasant Ridge as they look to defend their Class 2A State Championship. Sabetha will host ACCHS in their first round matchup.
