The 51st Kansas Shrine Bowl rosters have been released with area athletes being recognized for their athletic excellence on the football field this past fall.

The Shrine Bowl will be played on June 29th at Welch Stadium in Emporia.

Holden Bass helped Nemaha Central to their second consecutive state championship in Class 2A as well as another Big 7 league title. He was selected as a defensive lineman. This past month, Bass committed to continue his football career at Kansas State University.

Sawyer Deters was a big reason that Axtell was able to clinch its third consecutive state title. His size and strength were unmatched at the 8-Man DII level. The Eagles have the longest active winning streak in the state at 39 games.

Joshua Grimm helped the Sabetha Bluejays to another deep playoff run in Class 2A this past fall. He was selected as an offensive lineman to the East Team’s roster.

Jeter Purdy had an electrifying senior season at Atchison leading the Phoenix to yet another undefeated regular season and a solid postseason run in Class 4A. He was selected as a wide receiver.

Dalton Roush was consistently one of the most dominant linemen in the Big 7 this past season for the Holton Wildcats. He will be on the East roster as a defensive lineman.

RB Tweed was one of the many reasons that Jefferson County North had its best season in school history reaching the state title game. He will be a defensive lineman for the East squad this summer.

Sabetha head coach Garrett Michael will also be on the East Team’s coaching staff.
