The Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches (KABC) has released its first rankings of the 2024 baseball season.
In Class 3A, the Sabetha Bluejays find themselves in the top ten at number eight. Last season, Sabetha made the 3A state tournament after defeating Nemaha Central in the sub-state championship 14-10. They would get a tough draw in the first round against Wichita Collegiate where they lost 3-1 in Manhattan. Sabetha hosts Marysville on Thursday.
In Class 2-1A, Onaga is also ranked eighth. The Buffaloes clinched a spot in last year's state tournament in Great Bend by defeating Valley Falls 8-5 in their home sub-state championship. They won their quarterfinal game over Medicine Lodge in a thrilling 8-7 finish. They would lose their semifinal game to St. Mary's Colgan and finish fourth. Onaga takes on Jackson Heights on Thursday at home.
