The Nemaha Central and Silver Lake volleyball teams posted top-three finishes on Saturday at the Marysville Tournament to begin the season.
The Thunder finished the tournament 5-1 with their lone loss to Clay Center in the Championship game. They swept pool play with wins over Clay Center, Riley County, Marysville, and Chapman before defeating Holton in the semifinals.
The Eagles finished the tournament in third place going 4-2 overall. The Eagles defeated Sabetha, Concordia, and Holton in pool play with their lone loss to Valley Heights. Silver Lake would lose in straight sets to Clay Center in the semifinals and would defeat Holton in three sets in the Consolation match.
Holton finished the tournament in fourth place going 3-3. Valley Heights went 2-2 in pool play, Riley County finished 1-3 in pool play, and Sabetha finished 0-4 in pool play.
