Area teams competed at cross country events at Horton and Perry-Lecompton on Thursday afternoon.
@ Horton: The Oskaloosa girls won the event with West Platte finishing in second place and Sabetha in third place.
Oskaloosa's Katelyn Vogel won the event with a time of 22:09.10. The Bears posted two other top five finishes with Taylor Peterson and Emma Vogel finishing in third and fourth place respectively.
Maur Hill-Mount Academy would finish in fourth place with Clare Trotter finishing in fifth place while Sabetha's top finish was from Isabelle Walker in sixth place.
Team scores were rounded out by ACCHS, McLouth, and Jackson Heights.
West Platte won the boys event followed by Marysville at St. Marys. Mason Rader of Marysville won the individual crown with a time of 18:10.60.
Eight of the top 10 finishes were from Marysville, West Platte, and St. Marys. The team scores were rounded out by NEK, Jackson Heights, Rossville, Sabetha, Horton, Maur Hill-Mount Academy, and Oskaloosa.
Riverside had one of the other two top 10 finishes as Eric Ashworth finished in tenth place.
@ Perry-Lecompton: The Hiawatha girls won the event as they posted two inside the top 10 and six inside the top 20. Pauly Rockey finished in third place while Bri Guilliams finished in 10th place.
Ella Needham of Paola won the event with a time of 19:52.12 while Ella Aquino of Bishop Miege finished in second place.
Following Hiawatha in the team standings were Bishop Miege, Paola, Tonganoxie, Royal Valley, Holton, and Louisburg.
Other notable top 10 finishes were Josie Shelton of Royal Valley in fifth place, Aubrey Phillips of Jefferson West in seventh, Maya Doney of Holton in eighth, and Addilyn Lefferd of Royal Valley in ninth.
It was Tonganoxie who won the team title but it was Royal Valley's Dominick Schnider who won the individual title with a personal record time of 16:49.26.
Three Tonganoxie runners and one Bishop Miege runner followed Schnider in the top five as Tonganoxie and Bishop Miege were the top two teams.
Perry-Lecompton, Royal Valley, and Anderson County rounded out the top five team scores followed by Hiawatha, Jefferson West, Atchison, and Holton.
Other notable top 10 finishes were from Guy Phillips of Jefferson West in sixth place and Marius Carlsen of Perry-Lecompton in 10th place.
