The State tennis tournaments were this past weekend across Kansas with some area athletes competing.
In 4A at Kossover Tennis Center, Perry-Lecompton's Sophie Scrimsher won her first match of the singles tournament 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 but lost in the second round 6-0, 6-1.
In her first match on the consolation side of the bracket, Scrimsher would win 8-4 and then would follow with another win of 8-2 before losing 8-4 to Mitina of Winfield.
Scrimsher would lose 8-4 in her final match would and that would earn her an 11th place finish in the singles tournament.
In 3-1A, Sabetha's Audrey Tramp would win her first match of the singles tournament 6-3, 6-1 before losing in the second round 6-4, 6-1.
On the consolation side of the bracket, Tramp would win back-to-back matches of 8-5 and 8-3 before falling 8-3 in the consolation quarterfinals.
Tramp would lose her final match of the tournament 8-4 and would claim an 11th place finish.
The Sabetha doubles team of McKenna Gatz and Karsyn Meyer would lose their first match of the tournament 6-4 (2-6), 10-0 and then would follow with an 8-3 win in their first consolation match.
The tournament for them ended in the second round of the consolation round with an 8-3 loss to Turner/Urban of Marysville.
