On March 9th, the Silver Lake girls basketball team claimed their first state basketball championship since 2016.
They defeated Hesston in the title game 66-61 to claim the 3A championship.
Kailyn Hanni and McKenzie McDaniel balled out for the Eagles in the championship game. Hanni finished with 26 points going 14-of-15 from the free throw line. McDaniel posted a monster double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
Hanni, McDaniel, and McKinley Kruger were named First Team All-State by Sports in Kansas.
It was one of the most dominant seasons we’ve seen in recent memory as they had very few competitive games, going unblemished at 26-0.
For Silver Lake, it was their seventh state championship in school history.
