The Valley Heights girls basketball team is back at the 2A State Tournament as they defeated KC Christian on Saturday night 52-36 in the sub-state title game.
The run through the sub-state tournament included wins over Jefferson County North 62-33 in the first round and 62-55 over Maur Hill-Mount Academy in the semifinals.
Valley Heights' last loss was against Clay Center on Feb. 11 and they have not lost since winning seven consecutive games going into the state tournament.
The Twin Valley League once again provided a difficult game on a nightly basis but they also had early games against 3A Nemaha Central and 3A Big East league champs in Riley County.
The 2A state tournament will be held in Manhattan at Bramlage Coliseum and they will head there with an overall record of 16-8.
The Mustangs made the state tournament last season and finished in fourth place and had a record that season of 19-7.
