The Corning Post 216 baseball team defeated Hiawatha Post 66 on Wednesday night by a final score of 16-11.
Corning never trailed as they would score four runs in the first inning and built two different seven run leads throughout the game.
The first being 9-2 going into the bottom of the third inning. Hiawatha would chip away scoring three in that inning to get within 9-5 and then they would score three more in the fourth to get within two at 10-8.
Corning was able to put the game away as they would score five runs in the fifth inning and one more in the seventh for a little bit of insurance.
Corning's Henry Heideman was the McDonald's of Hiawatha and Seneca Player of the Game. Heideman reached base in four of his five at-bats with two singles, three RBI's, and four runs scored.
Hayden Schultejans reached base three times and with two singles and two RBI's while Cameron Kramer reached base in all five of his at-bats with three walks and a single.
Hiawatha's Lucas Lancaster reached base in four of his five at-bats which included three walks. Tagen Diller had three hits which included two RBI doubles, and Cooper Jacobson reached base four times with a double, single, and two RBI's.
The two teams combined for 27 runs, 23 hits, 12 errors, 17 walks, and 22 left on base.
