Seneca Post 21's season comes to an end after another heartbreaking loss in the AA American Legion State Baseball Tournament. Seneca had a great early going, but couldn't find production for the rest of the game, while Marysville Post 163 was able to get hot and come out victorious 10-5.
The first inning started with Seneca putting up four runs on the board off three hits in the bottom of the first. Reese Gerety had a one-out two-RBI double that scored Jack Macke and Derek Wurtz. Seneca Post 21 would be another one more run on in the second with Caleb Strathman coming through to score after a single by Jack Macke.
It was after the second inning that all offensive production halted for Seneca, with no runs coming from just three hits for the final five innings. Marysville managed to get a spark in the second to score two runs.
Marysville Post 163 would take the lead after being down 5-3 going into the fifth, scoring a dominating five runs off five hits in the fifth, bringing ten batters to the plate.
Marysville Post 163 will continue their play and take on Iola at 3:30 PM today at Noble Park, Hiawatha, Kansas.
Seneca Post 21's season comes to an end with a final record of 14-14.
