2A #2 Nemaha Central showed why they're a top tier team in the state on Friday night as they improved to 2-0 with a 42-7 home win against Silver Lake.

The Thunder led the game 28-0 at halftime as they scored touchdowns in their first four possessions.

The first was scored by Jayden Seitz from eight yards out and the other three scored by quarterback Carter Hajek (3, 25, 6).

Silver Lake had three turnovers in the first half and finished with four in the game. The Eagles (0-2) were able to get some momentum in the third quarter as they outscored the Thunder 7-0 to get within 28-7 going into the fourth quarter.

They got an interception by Grady Bergmann as he made a nice play to pick off Hajek and then on fourth down inside the NC 10-yard line, Kip Kruger found Bergmann for a nine-yard touchdown pass.

Early in the fourth quarter the Thunder would leave no doubt with Hajek capping off a 10-play 94 yard drive with a 39 yard touchdown run. The final score was by the Thunder defense with Sullivan Haverkamp provided a 35 yard pick-six.

The Thunder outgained the Eagles in total yards 361-131 including 331-51 in the rushing department.

Hajek finished with 25 carries for 252 yards and four touchdowns while the Thunder defense had four sacks and forced four turnovers.

Week three matchups for both teams will have Nemaha Central on the road at Rossville while Silver Lake will have their first home game against Perry-Lecompton.
