Athlete Of The Week
Proffitt Lowers Times, Continues Sprinting Dominance
Kyson Proffitt

Kyson Proffitt of Jackson Heights earns Athlete of the Week honors after a strong showing at the Seaman Relays, where he set personal records in both sprint events.

He lowered his 100m time from 10.89 to 10.68 and his 200m from 21.85 to 21.61, placing second in the 100 and first in the 200 against a large field of athletes from all classes.

His times in both the 100 and 200 top the 2A class with his 200 time being number two among all classes.

Proffitt has been dominant all season, winning every 100 and 200 race he’s entered aside from his runner-up finish in the 100 at Seaman. He’s also part of a record-setting 4x100-meter relay team that posted a 43.60, breaking the previous school mark of 44.53.

A year ago, Proffitt placed second in both the 100 and 200 at the Class 2A state meet, and he’ll again compete on the national stage this summer at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Oregon.

Kyson is committed to furthering his track and field career at Fort Scott Community College.
