Area golf teams were in action at Frankfort last Tuesday and the host Wildcats won the meet behind a first-place finish from senior Aiden Gerstner.

Gerstner won the meet by two shots with an 84, carding a 43 on the front nine and a 41 on the back.

He recorded pars on five consecutive holes on the back nine and racked up eight pars on a day that played tough on the field with only one birdie throughout the whole tournament.

Gerstner is looking to repeat his 2019 season which saw him take third at the state meet with a 77 which helped lead the Wildcats to a Class 1A State Championship.

It was his second trip to state for the Cats as he took 20th as a freshman.

Gerstner also recorded a seventh-place finish at the Twin Valley League meet last season and then went on to win the regional meet.

He will look to make another run at the state meet this season and continue his hot start this week at Nemaha Central on Thursday.
