Peru State Bobcat softball players Kristen Bodyk (Paris, Ontario, Canada) and Emily Maresh (Central City) were recently honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Both seniors, Bodyk and Maresh were named to the NFCA's 2013 NAIA All-Region First Team for the Southwest Region as an at-large selection.
Bodyk was previously named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) All-Conference First Team while Maresh was selected for the Second Team. Bodyk had a batting average of .330 this past year, hitting six home runs and driving in 27 RBI. Maresh had a team-high batting average of .333 with 30 RBI and had four home runs.
Both Maresh and Bodyk will be listed in future Bobcat single-season and career records categories.
The NFCA is the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play. One of its purposes is to stimulate the development of quality leadership for fastpitch softball programs and to promote the further development of the program.
