For the final time this season runners ready the words “Ready, take your marks” and the pistol fire as the State competition’s for cross country commenced over the weekend across the State of Kansas.
Only one area runner took to the course in Wamego at the Country Club over the weekend in Class 4A as Regional champ, Atchison lady Red sophomore, Sarah Jaloma took home a fifth place finish posting a time of 16:00.89.
Jaloma was only just a couple of seconds off of a top three finish in the state competition. Last year as a freshman Jaloma competed at the state competition and notched a 38th place finish, this year she took a monster leap up to a fifth place in just her sophomore year.
The Lady Red sophomore capped off a stellar year that she will use to propel herself into the future for the next two years.
