Marysville & Immaculata Boy's Tennis Players Qualify for State

Boy's tennis Regionals took place over the weekend and a pair of area schools in Marysville and Immaculata say some of their competitors earn a spot at the State tournament after both competing at the Leavenworth Regional over the weekend.

Marysville is set to send five tennis players to the 3-2-1A State competition this coming weekend as a pair of doubles teams qualified and one singles player also. Tommy McNish and Zach Pieschl teamed up to finish third at Regionals and head into the State competition with a 18-3 record on the season, while Tony Hooyer and Dustin Faulkner placed fifth for the Bulldogs at Regionals earning a spot at State and have a 10-3 record on the season. Tanner Wright will represent Marysville as a singles player after placing second at Regionals; Wright is currently 13-6 on the season.

For Immaculata four players will make the trip to the State competition with one doubles team and two singles players representing the Raiders in the 3-2-1A competition. Phillip Hernandez and Sam Rhee will compete in singles competition after placing third and fourth at Regionals, respectively. Hernandez goes into State with a 15-8 record, while Rhee sits at 17-9 on the season. Andy Eam and Adam Habib finished sixth in the doubles competition at Regionals to qualify for State and head into the competition with a 4-5 record on the season.

Hiawatha and Atchison did not have a qualifier for State this year in 3-2-1A and 4A competition, respectively.

The 3-2-1A competition is set to start on Friday at 11:30am at Conway Springs high school and will continue on Saturday.
